About the project
CargoHound was an Australian digital platform dedicated to international freight, developed to connect importers and exporters with freight forwarders and carriers through a specialized online marketplace.
The platform was created to simplify a process that traditionally required businesses to individually contact multiple logistics providers to request and compare freight quotations.
MULTIDIMENSION contributed to the development of the CargoHound software solution, implementing platform components and functionality that transformed international freight procurement processes into a digital workflow.
CargoHound enabled importers and exporters to enter their shipment requirements and request quotations from multiple logistics providers. Freight forwarders and carriers could respond to these requests through the platform, creating a marketplace connecting demand for transportation with available freight services.
An important component of the solution was its quotation comparison system. Instead of separately analyzing information received from different providers, users could compare offers within a single digital environment using criteria such as price, transit time and provider rating.
The rating system provided an additional trust mechanism within the marketplace, allowing users to consider the experience of other members when selecting a provider to handle their international shipments.
For freight forwarding and transportation companies, the platform also provided a digital channel for discovering new business opportunities and submitting quotations to importers and exporters looking for their services.
By centralizing requests, quotations and the information required throughout the selection process, CargoHound aimed to reduce the time and complexity associated with organizing international freight while increasing transparency in logistics service procurement.
CargoHound is an early example of a digital freight marketplace, where software development transformed a traditional process based on direct communication and individual quotation requests into a digital marketplace connecting businesses requiring transportation with international logistics service providers.
